Submission
An idea, a treatment or a draft, with a short statement of why it has to be this story.

Development
Work on the material with a mentor: what it is about, and what is stopping it being makeable.

The writers room
Writers in a room together, working on each other’s material as well as their own.

Commission
Where a project is selected, it is commissioned and made, with trainees holding grades on it.
What a writer gets
The work
Attention, from people who have made things.
Mentorship from working writers, producers and directors, and a room of other writers.
The route out
A film, or a script you can take elsewhere.
Where a project is commissioned, it is budgeted, crewed and credited. Where it is not, the script is yours to take anywhere.
Where Futures in Film CIC materially supports the development or production of new work, any agreed revenue participation is transparent, proportionate, creator-protective and set out in writing. Anything the CIC receives is reinvested into training, production support, equipment access and social-impact filmmaking.
Who it is for
Writers and filmmakers with a real subject.
Open to people over 18 in the UK. Prior credits are not required. Priority goes to filmmakers from the communities the work is about, to women of faith, to people outside London, and to Deaf, Disabled and Neurodivergent writers.
