Pillar 05

Inclusive Representation, Cultural Safety and Community Access

The barriers that decide who works in this industry are rarely about ability: fares, rent, a shift you cannot afford to lose, a set that has never thought about prayer. This pillar is the route in for people the sector has not reached.

Faith communities

A published Faith Inclusion Toolkit, so nobody has to ask twice about prayer, food, dress, fasting or scheduling. Free to read.

Neurodivergent people

Neurodivergent

Neurodivergent people

Neurodivergent and Disabled people, and the organisations supporting them. The quiet room on the base plan serves rest as well as prayer.

People priced out

Cost

People priced out

Funded places for people who could not otherwise pay, as trading income allows.

Access

Where you live should not decide whether you can take a place.

Access

Where you live should not decide whether you can take a place.

Say on the form what would stop you taking a place. Barriers are discussed case by case, sometimes with a third-party funder, and nothing is promised in advance.

The mechanism

Any surplus is locked in. It pays for everything we do.

Testing, kit hire, commissioned film and space hire earn the income. The asset lock means no surplus can be taken out, so it goes back into the work.

Any surplus is locked in. It pays for everything we do.

What the route is

Mentorship, training, and a supervised place where a production offers one.

01

Tailored mentorship

A practitioner in the grade you are aiming at.

02

Structured training

Production simulations in a grade, so what you can do has been seen.

03

Supervised placement

A defined role on a unit, as training, where a production offers one.

Screen Sisters

A separate company, not one of our programmes.

Screen Sisters CIC (company number 16185639) is a women-led, faith-rooted training organisation with its own directors. The Faith Inclusion Toolkit belongs to Futures in Film CIC; Screen Sisters collaborates on it, and its trainees crewed the shoot that piloted it.
