What the work produces, not what the work is for. Futures in Film CIC was incorporated in January 2023; earlier work was run by Pixeleyed Pictures with equipment and money from MR Helix, part of the long-term development context, not the CIC’s own record.

Outputs and outcomes
These are outputs. Here is the difference, and where we are on it.
Everything counted above is an output: how many people, how many days, how many recorded attendances. Outputs measure activity. An outcome measures what changed for somebody afterwards — a grade held on a unit, a credit earned, a paid day worked, a department entered.
Funders discount organisations that present the first as though it were the second, so it is worth saying plainly which is which and where the gap is.

Closing the gap
What it would take to answer the second column.
This is a design problem, not a reason to overstate the first column.
- A follow-up register: every participant recorded once, with consent to contact them at six and twelve months, captured at the point they join rather than chased afterwards.
- One agreed definition of a destination, used from the start — a paid day in the department trained for, not any employment.
- Somebody whose job includes the follow-up. Destination tracking fails when it is nobody’s named responsibility.
- Funding for the above. It is staff time, it is unglamorous, and it is the difference between reporting activity and reporting change.
Until that exists, the figures on this page are described as what they are. A number presented as an outcome that turns out to be an output is the kind of thing a funder’s due diligence catches, and we would rather it never had to.

What is in it
What the rows are.
Manufacturer test days. Production simulations: Dinosaur, Running Riot, Read All About It, After Hardship Comes Ease. Craft workshops. On-set placements on Curfew, Wolf Hall series two and Wake Up Dead Man. Expos, community and faith films, and post-production blocks.
Futures in Film CIC delivery. MR Helix contributed technical expertise, access and infrastructure to the test days; community films draw on earlier ecosystem work.
