Based at Pinewood, with an East London access point at 3 Mills. Units have run in London, Buckinghamshire, Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire, Farnham, North Wales, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.

3 Mills — the East London way in
The Screen Sisters CIC Creative Hub at 3 Mills Studios is the East London access point for people who cannot travel regularly to Pinewood. It is a way into the same work, not a different organisation’s address: studio simulations have run there, and Story to Screen is run jointly with Screen Sisters CIC. The test room and the package stay at Pinewood, and somebody who starts at 3 Mills comes to them for a test day or a shoot day. Screen Sisters CIC is a separate company with its own board; the hub is supported through the wider ecosystem.

The bridge
The North West and Pinewood are one idea, not two lists.
The work started in the North West — Blackburn, Liverpool, Manchester, Lancashire — and it reaches a stage at Pinewood, on the lot J. Arthur Rank built and with his foundation’s support. That is the bridge. The region is where people already are; Pinewood is what they get access to; and neither end of it does anything on its own. It is also the reason a production simulation can be set up anywhere in the country and still finish on a studio stage.
How it works
The host provides the room. We bring the unit.

The room
A studio stage, a college workshop, a mosque hall, a rental house. Power, a floor and a door that locks.

The unit
Camera, grip, lighting, sound and support, prepped at Pinewood and moved on a kit day.
03
The people
Working heads of department travel to the trainees. Recruitment and follow-up stay with the organisations already in that place.

Where you live should not decide whether you can train.
Say on the form what would stop you taking a place. Institutions, studios and local authorities wanting a simulation in their area: ask.
