Do I need experience to apply?
No. Tell us what you have done. If you have experience, you are placed where it fits.
Do I need a degree?
No. There is no degree requirement and no membership gate.
How old do I have to be?
Eighteen or over, for everything we run.
I am not in London. Can I still do this?
Yes. Units have run across England, Wales and Scotland. Say on the form what would stop you taking a place; barriers are discussed case by case.
I am Deaf, Disabled or Neurodivergent. What happens?
Tell us what you need when you apply. Some things on a working unit are physical, and you are told which before you commit.
What happens on a production simulation?
You hold a grade on a working unit: kit, a call sheet, consequences, a practitioner watching.

How much does it cost?
It depends on the programme and on whether you hold a funded place. There is no rate card.
Where does the money for funded places come from?
From trading: hire, commissioned film, testing, space hire and teaching. The asset lock means the margin cannot be taken out as profit, so it funds places.
Can I get a ScreenSkills bursary?
Possibly. ScreenSkills bursaries are competitive, need weeks of lead time, and are not open to full-time or part-time students. Apply early.
Do you supply crew?
No. Futures in Film CIC is not a crew-supply agency. Placements are training and progression: a defined role, supervised, with a debrief.
Do you pay people on placements?
The production does, at the going rate for the grade, agreed in writing before placement. We take nothing from anybody’s rate.

Why is there no rate card?
Dates, duration, package and scope settle the price, in writing before anything is committed. Crew rates are published by Bectu and the guilds.
Are you a rental house?
No. Futures in Film CIC is not an equipment rental provider. The package belongs to MR Helix Ltd and is made available to the CIC. A hire runs properly — prep day, kit list, manifest, technical support — and the margin is asset-locked to community benefit.
Do you have 35mm?
Yes. A Panavision Millennium XL2 and a set of Cooke S4 primes. Stock, lab and loader are arranged with you.
Are your crew insured, and are you?
We carry our own insurance and our practitioners carry theirs. For a hire you must hold production insurance covering hired-in equipment, and the certificate is checked before anything leaves the building.
Can I put your social value in my tender?
Yes. The surplus is legally locked to community benefit, evidenced through the filed accounts, the community interest report and the filed Social Impact Audit and Community Benefit Report.

Are you a charity?
No. Futures in Film C.I.C. is a community interest company, number 14621615, not registered with the Charity Commission, and not a grant-making body. Donations are not eligible for Gift Aid.
Who are your partners?
Manufacturers, rental houses, laboratories, studios, universities and colleges. An organisation is named once it has agreed how the relationship is described. Practitioners hold their own memberships; those bodies are not our partners.
What is the Faith Inclusion Production Standard?
The Faith Inclusion Production Standard is a published document on how a production handles prayer, food, dress and scheduling, and productions can adopt it. The Toolkit behind it is still being written.
