Search
Say what you are trying to do and we will point you at it.
One box, and every page on this site behind it. Results are ranked, not listed alphabetically: a page whose name matches comes first, then its section, then the words in the page itself.
Most people arrive here having searched for something we call by a different name, so the box also knows the words people type — bursary, kit hire, levy, work experience — not only the words we print. Enter opens the first result; Escape clears the box.
Nothing is sent anywhere. The index is built when the site is built, it travels with the page, and the search runs entirely in your browser.
Most people are here for one of these
Six starting points.
I want to get into the industry
Routes in, what each job is, what it pays, and how to get a first day
I teach, or I lead a department
School, college and university work, teacher CPD, and the material to use with a class
If you searched for this, you want that
The words people use, and the page they meant.
| What people search for | Where it lives |

| Work experience, placement, runner, first job | Learn, and the progression ladder |
| Camera hire, kit hire, lens hire, rental prices | The package, and how a hire is quoted |
| Free, funded, bursary, can I afford it | Bursaries, and the trainee grant |
| 35mm, film stock, shoot on film, celluloid | The 35mm initiative and Shot on Film |
| AI, machine learning, is my job safe | AI and future workflows, and the state of the industry piece |

| Accounts, CIC34, who is on the board, policies | Reports and accounts, and the policies index |

Everything in the right-hand column is reachable from the six doors above, or from the footer. Nothing on this site is more than three clicks from the home page, and if you found something that is, that is a fault worth telling us about.
Nothing matched
When the search comes back empty.
Try fewer words
Two words beat six. Search engines inside websites are much worse than the one you came from, and ours is no exception.
Try the industry word, or the plain one
We keep a list of the words people type against the pages they meant — bursary against ‘Can I afford this?’, kit hire against the package, levy against apprenticeships. It is not exhaustive, and we add to it when a search comes back empty.
Check whether it exists yet
Parts of this site are still being built and are marked as such. If a page is in development we would rather say so than show you an empty result.
Tell us what you were looking for
One field, one button. We read every one of these, and it is the fastest way for us to find out what is missing from this site.
The index is rebuilt every time the site is built, the synonym list is a plain text file anyone on the team can edit without a developer, and every result points to a page we have written. Nothing you type is sent anywhere — the search runs in your browser.

Or start from the top.
The full sitemap runs down the footer of every page. If you would rather ask a person than a search box, the contact page has a named route for each kind of enquiry rather than one general inbox.
