Last night, the ISFO team went to the 'Show us your Shorts' screening of Women in Film and TV in Soho and we meet the lovely Rebekah, who is a Film Festival Doctor. We found her job title so exciting that we asked her to send over a description of what she does in the industry. Here is her profile:

Founder and Company Director of 'The Film Festival Doctor' Rebekah Smith has over
five years film industry experience. She began working as a P.A. to independent film maker Jonnie Oddball and then moved into the film festival sector and began working for Wales' national horror film festival, the Abertoir Horror Festival. She is an Associate Producer (Abertoir Horror Festival promo & 'Infected' forthcoming) and film Journalist (Scream magazine, buried.com, fangirltastic.com & sexgoremutants.com), who is also a doctor.
The Film Festival Doctor is a festival agent who helps producers get their films seen at festivals around the world in order to achieve successful film festival exposure. Rebekah service includes researching & designing your films festival strategy & taking care of the administration process on your behalf. Festivals are ideal places to launch your short or feature film, since getting your work seen in cinemas has become more and more difficult. In addition, it is at events like these where you can effectively network with other film industry professionals.
Rebekah's biggest success story so far has been the Greek Horror Thriller Subconscious which received its World Premiere at the UK Celluloid Screams Festival and also won the 'scariest moment' award at the Rocky Mountain Horror Festival in the USA. Since moving to the country's film capital she has recently become the Festival Manager for a number of high profile feature films including Mercenaries, Terry, Mother's Milk & Don't Let Him In.
